This is the US Navy's latest awesome ship. It's their new Multi-mission coastal combat ship. It is made of aluminum for two reasons. Aluminum is lighter and the ship is therefore faster and more fuel efficient. It also does away with the threat of magnetic mines since aluminum is not a magnetic metal. It also has a much shallower draft, which would also keep it safer from mines and torpedoes. I hope our budget allows us to build more of these.
